What we do

The Blind Spot Animal Sanctuary is dedicated to the fulfillment of  animal wellfare.

Mission statement:
The Blind Spot Animal Sanctuary provides lifelong, loving care to neglected and homeless farm animals, placing those who are adoptable in forever homes.

We rescue, rehabilitate and care for animals that once found themselves surrendered, abandoned, and exploited.

The size of property and the surrounding state park allows us the unique opportunity to offer a safe haven for farm and domestic animals.

The Blind Spot Animal Sanctuary focuses on those animals that often get overlooked due to species, age, color or disability.

In addition to saving lives, Blind Spot Animal Sanctuary works hard to educate and spread seeds of compassion and kindness.

We share the importance of our mission by inviting visitors to our sanctuary. Guests are face-to-face with the animals they may only know from television or as dinner on their plate. They have the opportunity to learn about their behavior, personality, care and most importantly their story.

At Blind Spot Animal Sanctuary, a guest can feed peacocks that once found themselves in a local shelter or sit down with a pig or two who want nothing more than blueberries and a belly rub.

Each animal at the sanctuary has their own story; each and every animal is cherished and loved.
Through our community relations and visitors, we educate the public on the importance of adoption and the decision to take an animal into their care is a lifelong commitment.

Vision statement:

We envision a world where animals are treated with respect, cared for throughout their life and where the society enjoys the
wonder and miracle of animals, making it senseless to use animals for entertainment or experimental purposes.

Want to learn more about farm animals or considering adopting one?
Schedule a visit to see the sanctuary and meet the farm animals before getting one!
We encourage people meeting some of our horses, pigs or birds in person before adding one to your family. We are glad to share information and our experience.

Our Application Process

We occasionally have animals available for adoption. Our main goal is to place rescued animals in appropriate, loving, and permanent homes. Each animal has a distinct personality as well as needs, therefore we want to ensure the animal and the adoptive family are the right fit for each other.

Adoption Requirements:

Come meet the animal in person at the sanctuary

Submit an application and vet references. If you haven’t had animals before, we accept personal references

Allow us or one of our volunteers to do a home/barn check. This is not to invade your privacy but rather ensure it’s a safe environment for the rescued animal

Provide the animal with a secure in and outdoor area, even if the animal will be allowed inside the house

If the home has a dog(s), the adopter must agree to keep the adoptive farm animal and dog(s) separated at all times unless supervised

The adopter must be allowed to have farm animals at their residence (please check your zoning)

When adopting a pot belly pig from us, we recommend to adopt two.
